Airtime

If you have over five years of service credit, you are eligible to purchase up to five years of service called Air Time. You can purchase service credit for benefit computation only, benefit computation and retirement eligibility, or upgrade a prior purchase of benefit computation to eligibility. The calculation of Air Time is based off of several factors, including your salary information and how close you are to retirement, among other actuarial determinations. If you decide to purchase Air Time, you can use personal payments and/or a direct rollover from an IRA or qualified employer account to pay for the service.  You can complete form 02-07 Application for Purchase of Service and return it with the appropriate actuarial fee.
